Lorraine had to make an awkward confession to an iconic Bridget Jones actress and writer after she’d not been given enough time to read her book before their interview got underway
Lorraine found herself in a sticky situation during an interview with legendary Bridget Jones star Celia Imrie who appeared on the programme to promote her new book.
The 64-year-old host, who has been on ITV screens for decades, prides herself on ensuring she is well brushed up before interviewing guests on her show. However, on Monday’s (July 1) episode, the host complained she was not as prepared as she would have liked.
Sat face-to-face with icon Celia, Lorraine had to awkwardly confess to not having a chance to read all of her book Meet Me At Rainbow Corner. The Scottish TV personality complained she’d not been given enough time to complete Celia’s latest novel.
Lorraine found herself in a tricky situation with a Bridget Jones icon
It was evident that Lorraine was struggling and not clued up on Celia’s new publication after the author explained the relevance of the book being linked to its launch date of July 4.
Celia explained: “Thursday will be a busy day but nether the less that will be coming out [she pointed at the book] on July 4th because of the GIs, in honour of them.” Lorraine chirped back: “Of course, that makes so much sense, Independence Day.”
Instead of blagging her way through their chat, the host instead decided to confess that she’d not had enough time to digest it all.
Lorraine said: “Meet Me At Rainbow Corner, out on Thursday and I can’t wait to finish it all. I only got it yesterday and I would have finished it.”
Celia didn’t have anything to say on Lorraine not reading her book
She moaned: “I don’t like talking to people until I’ve read their whole book but I’ve still got that wee joy.” The film star shrugged off her comments with an understanding smile.

“It hasn’t quite sunk in yet, to be honest – but I’m just so thrilled,” she added. “I’m so proud of my wee girl and she’s got a lovely, lovely partner and they’re really happy – and I’m going to be a granny!”
