Social media had a hard time digesting one of the timeouts called by the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday.

The Chiefs recorded their 14th win of the season with a 27-19 win over the visiting Texans on the day and still have just a single loss to their name heading into their final pair of regular-season fixtures.

Andy Reid’s side, undoubtedly the most scrutinized team in the NFL as most fans believe they’re favored by the refs, was accused of pulling something shady off in the first quarter of Saturday’s win as it appeared that a ball boy called a timeout for them.

“It looks like the ball boy was the one to call timeout for the #Chiefs. Never seen something like this before,” MLFootball wrote as the caption to a video showing the ball boy getting the ref’s attention before the timeout gets called.

“Isn’t the head coach the only one allowed to call timeout on the sidelines?” another account asked. “I guess chiefs ball boys will help when Andy Reid can’t walk 15 yards.”

Was The Kansas City Chiefs Ball Boy Simply Directing The Ref’s Attention To Andy Reid?

While it certainly appears that the ball boy got the ref to stop the game, he was likely just getting the ref’s attention to the head coach, who then indicated he wanted a timeout.

“shoutout to the Chiefs ball boy getting the side judge’s attention for that Andy Reid timeout,” the account that posted the video initially captioned their version.

This is a lot easier to believe, right?
