In conjunction with the release of the Court of Gold docuseries on Tuesday, Netflix posted video of Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry reflecting on his legendary shot in the men’s basketball gold medal game between Team USA and France at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
As part of a post on X, Netflix showed the shot followed by a sit-down interview with Curry:
“99.99999% of the players in the world would have missed that shot. Only one guy could have made it. Him.”

With less than 40 seconds remaining in the gold medal game and with Team USA leading by six, Curry buried a three-pointer with two defenders in his face to essentially clinch gold for the Americans in Paris:

Regarding his iconic triple, Curry said: “It was a dream come true. I was in some storybook-type stuff to have it end that way. Yeah, I’ll take it. It was pretty special.”
To put an exclamation point on the shot and the victory, Curry did his trademark “night night” celebration by placing his hands against his head while running down the court.
Curry said he “held it for a long time” in reference to the celebration, and added that he has a “cool picture” of himself doing the “night night,” which he plans to display in his house.
While Curry was already a four-time NBA champion, two-time NBA MVP, two-time NBA scoring champ, one-time NBA Finals MVP and the NBA’s career leader in three-pointers made, there was one major accomplishment missing from his résumé before the summer of 2024.
Curry had never played in the Olympics, meaning he never had a chance to win an Olympic gold medal.
He finally committed to playing for Team USA last summer, though, and he joined forces with other top players from his generation such as LeBron James and Kevin Durant, as well as some of the NBA’s rising stars like Anthony Edwards and Jayson Tatum.
James ended up being the MVP of the entire Olympic tournament, but Curry was the star of the gold medal game against host France, going off for a team-high 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including 8-of-13 from three-point range.
The U.S. went on to win 98-87, clinching a fifth consecutive gold medal in men’s basketball and an eighth gold out of the past nine Olympic Games.
Curry was already a surefire future first-ballot Hall of Famer and one of the greatest players of all time, but the game-clinching shot against France created a moment for which he will always be celebrated and remembered.
