TV personality Davina McCall exclaimed she’s “happier than ever” – seven years after her shock divorce.

The presenter beamed with joy as she spoke about overcoming past struggles while on stage at a comedy gig in aid of Menopause Mandate.

Davina, 56, looked stunning as she showed off her figure in a striking gold dress – and gushed over her celebrity hairdresser boyfriend, Michael Douglas.

He was sat front row at London’s Hippodrome to watch her host the event – It’s a Right Laugh – sponsored by Boots.

Davina introduced a howlingly hilarious host of female comedians including Jo Brand, Zoe Lyons, Nina Conti, Jenny Eclair, Sikisa, Ria Lina, Sara Barron, Thanyia Moore, Jen Brister, Laura Smyth and Isma Almas.

The women joined forces to back the new Menopause Mandate campaign – demanding the menopause is included in the NHS over-40 health check.

“I got involved because I was sick of the way society views mid-life women, as if they’re haggard and dried up. We’ve got to be able to change that.

“I went through the menopause and now I’m happier than ever.”

She then pointed out her boyfriend Michael who she has been dating since the summer of 2019.

Michael started doing Davina McCall’s hair back when her Big Brother career first began.

She had been using him as her hairdresser and ‘therapy’ go-to for 20 years after building a solid friendship.

Davina split from her husband Matthew Robertson in 2017 and was married to Andrew Leggett from 1997 to 1999.

Amid the two hours of menopause and midlife-themed hilarity, there were also stories of suffering – from isolation, depression and suicidal ideation, with relationships destroyed and jobs lost.

Davina added: “Every woman in the UK is given a health check for free over the age of 40.

What is the menopause?

There are 16 million women over the age of 45 in the UK – and Menopause Mandate believes they should all be checked at the doctors.

Not every woman will find menopause difficult, but there are said to be at least 34 symptoms and most women will experience at least one.

Hot flushes, brain fog, and weight gain are just some signs of the change millions of women go through each year.

One in four will find their quality of life is compromised.

Menopause Mandate argues that by highlighting the signs and symptoms of the menopause at the health check, which is offered to everyone, will mean that women enter the transition armed with knowledge and prepared to make lifestyle and HRT choices.

It will save countless women from years of baffling symptoms and save the NHS millions both short and long term, they said.

“They might talk about heart health and diabetes risk, but the one thing that every single woman is 100 per cent going to go through is menopause, and that’s not even given a nod.

“Women need to be educated and informed. Please scan our QR code and sign the petition.

“We’re looking to the future. Let’s get the next generations of girls fully supported.”
