Chris Hemsworth is creating headlines for Miller’s upcoming directorial project Furiosa, which serves as a spin-off and a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road. He will play Warlord Dementus in the movie. In an interview with ET last year, the actor told the outlet that he felt pressure playing the part, claiming,
“We did about four weeks of rehearsals, and we started digging in and diving into it, and things started coming to me. And then, about two weeks prior to shooting, something clicked. I went, ‘Ooh! Ooh. I think that’s who it is. I think that’s how he moves.’ But, in the buildup, and I’m talking a couple of years, I was scared out of my mind. I’m like, ‘I’m gonna derail one of the most iconic franchises.’ I’m gonna bring down Mad Max. It’s gonna be my fault.”
According to reports, in March 2020, the upcoming Australian-American post-apocalyptic action movie director George Miller used Skype to conduct the audition process for the casting members. Later it was announced that actor Anya Taylor-Joy would star in the titular role, and Chris Hemsworth would play warlord Dementus.

In a tell-all interview with Vanity Fair, Chris Hemsworth claimed that his upcoming movie director George Miller is one of the best filmmakers he has ever worked with. Talking about Miller, he told the outlet,
“I’m just at the point of my life where I’m meeting with different directors and [people say] oh yeah, look, he’s a mad genius. He’s mad, but he’s a genius, and he’ll make great films. I’m like, Is that who I want to spend my days with? Four months, five months of shooting, and then you’ve got press, and possible reshoots, and so on.”
The Rush movie star continued,
“He is known for being kind. And a genius—but not the mad type. One that is very aware of how his energy affects; others and how he has the power to make your day fantastic or shitty and chooses for it to be a positive experience. The whole crew, everyone is in a better mood. It baffles me that some people in that position don’t understand that.”
