It was not the typical walk-in-the-park game for Team USA, but it is the game they will remember the most in their Paris Olympics campaign. The United States men’s basketball team reached the final after securing a thrilling win against Nikola Jokic-led Serbia on Thursday.
Team USA, who were behind for the entirety of the game, made a remarkable comeback in the fourth quarter, overcoming a 17-point deficit to secure a 95-91 win.
An elated Kevin Durant came out to speak to the media after the game. He talked about the team’s mentality and the honor of playing for the country.
“Everybody here, they’ll never forget about this night. Everybody here will remember this night for the rest of their lives. That’s how special it is here. And because we came back and we showed how together we were in that fourth quarter”, Durant said after the game.
When asked how it feels to play for Team USA in the Olympics, Durant had a straight-from-the-heart response.
“A lot of bullshit happens in our country, but a lot of great things happen, too,” Durant said, as reported by Mike Finger of The San Antonio Express-News.

Curry, who had a quiet outing in Team USA’s matches until the semi-final, scored the second-most team points in history, 36 points, and 8 rebounds.
“That was a godlike performance,” Durant said to the media. “That was tough because he felt like he was struggling throughout the whole tournament. And we always said each night it could be somebody different. And tonight, he showed up”, Durant said after the game.
Team USA will face Team France in the Olympics final on August 10. France, led by young Victor Wembanyama, defeated Germany 73-69 earlier on Thursday. Meanwhile, Germany and Serbia will play in the bronze medal game.
