Aaron Rodgers talked up his relationship with Zach Wilson throughout the season, but it’s now understood that was mostly for the mics and cameras as the younger quarterback reportedly “barely” heard from him.

The Athletic published a damning report on the state of affairs within the New York Jets organization this week, having interviewed 30 individuals in and around the team.

The report notes that Wilson expected to have access to Rodgers even after he tore his Achilles yet there was hardly any communication between the two.

“We’re also going to put our arms around Zach and love on him because he’s a great kid,” the veteran qQB said on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ during the season.

However, according to Dianna Russini and Zack Rosenblatt:

“Wilson told coaches and teammates he was under the impression he’d have a direct line to Rodgers, even after Rodgers tore his Achilles and flew home to California for surgery in the early stages of his rehab. Instead, Wilson barely heard from him.”

Rodgers is not Russini’s biggest fan, so he might have something to say about that. But he did seem way closer to Sauce Gardner than he was to Wilson during preseason and you can barely find any Rodgers/Wilson content out there.

In any case, if he was just putting up a front, he won’t have to do so next season as the Jets have already decided to move on from the younger QB.
