The Philadelphia Eagles are soaring high this season, at least in the standings, which is all that really counts.
At 11-2, the Eagles are in prime position to make a deep run in the postseason.
However, not everything is harmonious at the team’s facility. Reports of tension between quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receiver A.J. Brown have emerged, raising eyebrows across the league.
Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers expressed disbelief over the reported friction within the Eagles’ locker room, offering a blunt solution during his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
“Receivers want the ball all the time, quarterbacks are trying to get them the ball, but shoot they’re 11-2 they have to figure that thing out because it’s hard to win in this league,” Rodgers said.
“They’ve won 11 damn games and maybe you shouldn’t be at each other like that all the time. Shoot I don’t know what is going on over there, I’ve got respect for all those guys.
“But you get a veteran guy in there who is a little scary, who can sit them both down and say, you shut the f*ck up , you shut the f*ck up, okay this is what’s going on and get this sh*t sorted out.”
The alleged friction surfaced after Brown’s postgame comments following the Eagles’ win over the Panthers on Sunday.
Brown, who was visibly frustrated on the sidelines and seen slamming his helmet, later addressed his behavior, attributing it to a desire for better “passing.”
Brown’s comments had a bit of a domino effect in Philly. Injured defensive leader Brandon Graham gave his honest thoughts on the situation (only to make matters worse).
“I don’t know the whole story, but I know that 1 (Hurts) is trying. 11 (Brown) could be a little better with how he responds to things. They were friends, but things have changed,” Graham said on WIP.
“And I understand that because life happens. But (on) the business side, we got to make sure we don’t let the personal get in the way of the business. And that’s what we need to do better.”
Graham attempted to walk back his comments, but the damage was already done.
Meanwhile, the Hurts-Brown saga has also reignited tensions between two former Eagles stars, Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens.
McNabb weighed in on the friction and urged the players to address conflicts privately.
“It’s two grown men. If you got an issue, you come to me,” McNabb said on WIP. “Let’s not go through the media…because now it blows up and…now what you said is out there in front of everybody.”
Owens responded sharply on social media, calling out McNabb for perceived hypocrisy.
“Now this is interesting is coming from you,” Owens said. “Not how I interpreted it but funny thing is, I agree with you on the idea of if you have issue with someone that you go to them and not the media.”
(Don’t you just love the City of Brotherly Love???)
Much like Graham, Brown tried to walk back his comments when he met the media today. He insisted that nothing is wrong and that he and Hurts are on perfectly fine terms.
Needless to say, it will be very interesting to see how things play out this Sunday when the Eagles welcome in the red-hot Pittsburgh Steelers.
What are your thoughts on all the drama in Philly?
What’s the over/under on the amount of targets Brown will get on Sunday???
