The Adidas social manager possibly made a big mistake by calling Kevin Durant “dusty” on their official account. However, this could also be good PR for them, depending on how the wind blows.

Kevin Durant Versus Adidas?

It started initially with Nice Kicks posting about Anthony Edwards’ Adidas shoes. When asked who he would want to see don his sneakers, the Minnesota Timberwolf said Durant.

However, this is next to impossible since Durant is partnered with Nike. Furthermore, it’s also a lifetime partnership, which would affect the superstar’s choices.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old remains adamant about the Phoenix Suns player wearing it in a game.

The 13-time All-Star instantly shot him down, replying quickly and bluntly. Durant spares no niceties for the Timberwolf.

This would have been a funny interaction for the league to laugh at for a few days. However, it becomes even more hilarious when you realize that the real Adidas replied to Durant’s tweet.

The shoe brand did not take his words well and replied. They initially said, “U dusty bouta retire soon anyway.”

This could be seen as a bold and risky play from the brand to generate more marketing for them.

I Take It Back, Exclaimed Adidas

However, they promptly deleted it. Several hours later, they replied to Durant’s comment again with another jab: “meant to send that from the burner account.”

This comment was a humorous dig at Durant’s previous use of anonymous social media accounts, cleverly referencing an infamous aspect of Durant’s online persona.

Many people believe the person who handles Adidas’ social media might lose their job. However, others also speculate this was a deliberate move from the social media manager, considering it caused a lot of talk about their shoes.

Nevertheless, it generated immense buzz around their brand, which, most likely, was the point.
