Terry Bradshaw and Trevor Lawrence (Photos via Twitter)
FOX NFL analyst and Pro Football Hall of Famer made it clear who he thinks is at fault for Azeez Al-Shaair’s dangerous hit on Trevor Lawrence during the Jacksonville Jaguars-Houston Texans game.
Trevor Lawrence had to be carted off in the second quarter after taking a vicious hit to the head from Al-Shaair that caused a concussion. Lawrence gave himself up by sliding near the first down marker, and Al-Shaair was rightfully ejected for the unnecessary hit.
The FOX NFL crew talked about the hit during halftime. There, Bradshaw explained who he thinks is at blame for the Al-Shaair hit on Lawrence:
“My only protection as a quarterback is my offensive linemen in the pocket. And when I get out, sliding feet first. Everybody, you know it..when I go feet first, leave me alone. I’m down.”

The Texans squeaked out a close 23-20 victory against the Jaguars, who likely would have won if Lawrence didn’t get knocked out of the game in the first place.

Trevor Lawrence Hit Further Stresses Need For NFL To Protect Its Players
The league has introduced several rules over the years to better protect their quarterbacks from unnecessary cheap shots and dangerous hits. Unfortunately, the new rules haven’t been enough to completely stop some careless defensive players from dishing out hits like what we saw in Jacksonville on Sunday.
The NFL is going to have to find somehow ways to better protect its quarterbacks. Perhaps stricter penalties (automatic suspensions, heavier fines, etc.) would help, because some players clearly aren’t getting the message.
