This Morning star Alison Hammond left fans wondering if she had split with her toyboy partner David Putnam following cryptic messages on social media.

Earlier this year Alison, 49, proudly revealed that she had found love again with the 29-year-old model and body therapist David – despite their 20-year age gap. Undeterred by the age difference, the couple appeared to be going from strength to strength. But recently, it has been noticed that the pair have been spending more and more time apart from each other. And last month, their seemingly strained relationship became more apparent as he celebrated his birthday in Lake Como, Italy, without the TV presenter.

In a bid to re-enact his James Bond dream, David even hired a speedboat. Trying to get to the bottom of things without being too intrusive, fans asked Alison in a social media Q&A, a number of questions, but the star remained tight-lipped. One person asked her if she was happy and she shyly replied: “Happiness comes from within.” According to those close to the star, she had been happy with David but his parents were concerned for their son due to the age gap and her high-profile career.

One friend who is close to David’s mum Olga, said: “She thinks Alison is way too old for David and doesn’t like all the attention her TV fame has brought to her son. She’s uncomfortable that her son is with someone who has so much more financial power than him. Olga’s traditional values don’t sit well with their relationship. She’s told him in no uncertain terms that he must end it.” And the TV personality was devastated.

A source told Heat magazine: “Alison was absolutely devastated when she heard what Olga said – she thought it was totally unnecessary and didn’t expect it at all. She has really fallen for the guy, and everyone is worried.” They added: “t’s not just the age difference no one knows him, and people are concerned, especially now his mum has weighed in. This was why Alison was trying to keep it so quiet. She knew what the reaction would be.”

This comes after friends of the model have claimed that Olga was keen for her son to meet a “nice Russian girl.” But one person who has given them his seal of approval is her 19 year old son Aiden. But it seems that Alison finds it difficult to date while being a mum to a teenage son. Speaking to Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe on their podcast, Parenting Hell, Alison revealed that Aiden is now at an age where he wants to know who his mum’s love interest is and wants to meet them.

She said: “It’s more difficult, he is more verbal now that he is older. He’ll want to know who this person is and he’ll want to meet them. It’s a lot harder. He’ll wanna know that this guy is treating me well. The person who I am seeing at the moment, he is on his Instagram and is like ‘Yeah I like him, he’s not too in your face’. Aidan is on it.”
