Allen Iverson continues to be spellbound by Luka Magic. The Philadelphia 76ers legend told ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins that he thinks the Dallas Mavericks superstar will be the next face of the league when players like LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant retire.

“Luka is crazy, man,” Iverson said on ESPN’s NBA Today on Friday. “His skill set is just ridiculous, man. This guy is scoring 70. It’s so wide open… It’s hard to guard Luka one-on-one, and his skill set is just so crazy.”

Luka Magic is unstoppable

The 25-year-old Doncic is in his sixth NBA season and continues to improve. Currently, Luka Magic leads the league in scoring at 33.9 points per game and is third in assists at 9.8 dimes per contest while also pulling down an impressive 9.2 rebounds per outing.

Earlier this year, Doncic put on the 4th best individual scoring performance in NBA history when he dropped an efficient 73 points on the Atlanta Hawks. Luka averaged 32.4 points per game last season, and he is on pace to top it this year with his current mark. With how teams play defense in this era, Iverson believes Luka is unstoppable.

“I saw when you and Steve was debating when they was talking about me scoring what I would score in this era. But it’s just wide open, it’s basically like if you beat your man, which was the easiest thing in the world to do for me, if you beat the guy that’s guarding you, then where’s the help? The center a lot of times is not standing under the basket like he used to do, like when you got to run right to Shaq after you beat somebody.” added Iverson.

AI said Luka plays like a ‘black guy’

Iverson has always been a fan of Luka and his game. When AI visited old buddy Shaquille O’Neal on The Big Podcast, the 2001 NBA MVP was at a loss in describing Doncic’s greatness, even likening Luka’s swag to that of a ‘black guy’.

“What the hell is wrong with Luka?” asked Iverson. “I’m talking about his style like it’s kind of like street ball mixed like mixed in with the streetball and then I don’t want nobody to take this the wrong way: He plays like a black guy. He got swag…He’s so cool out there. Everything is just slow images, just major moves, and a wet ball. I mean, he shoots the blood out of that thing. Man, Luka is…”

There’s no question that Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the NBA right now. And at 25, he is only going to get better. There are a lot of players who have the skill and charisma to become the next face of the NBA. But there’s just something about Doncic that makes him different. Maybe that’s why they call him Luka Magic. And he’s got everyone mesmerized, including AI.
