Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are both the top A-listers in Hollywood. Each known for their exceptional acting talents, the two actors have starred in multiple highest-grossing films. Even after their messy divorce, both Jolie and Pitt have not lost the confidence of directors and studios regarding their star image and box-office power. However, there is one studio that would not want to work with them.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie starred as the assassin couple in their $478 million grossing film, Mr. & Mrs. Smith. With multiple attempts at making a sequel, it seems there is finally going to be a sequel to the blockbuster in the form of a TV series reboot. But the makers would not be working with either actor after their divorce.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith To Get A Television Reboot

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie starter Mr. & Mrs. Smith was an action-packed film with multiple interesting stunt sequences. An unexpected box-office success, the film was an instant hit among the audience despite facing negative reviews from film critics. Nonetheless, a sequel was highly anticipated.

After numerous attempts at making a worthwhile sequel, it seems that finally, fans would be getting it but without the involvement of the original cast. Donald Glover along with Amazon Prime Studios is said to be the man behind it. Not only is he said to be starring it in but would also be the mind behind the series.

The series was also said to have a 2022 release, but due to the pandemic and numerous roadblocks, it might be scheduled for release late this year. As for the casting, it was reported that Maya Erskine would be playing Jolie’s role and Glover would be starring as the leading man.

Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Would Suffer Huge Loses With A Mr. & Mrs. Smith Sequel

When Mr. & Mrs. Smith was released, the film became Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s highest-grossing film ever. While the Bullet Train star took home a massive paycheck of $20 million, the Eternals star was just paid half the amount, which is $10 million, thanks to the misogynist culture in Hollywood.

Despite the film grossing over $487 million worldwide against a budget of just $110 million, Jolie was grossly underpaid. Now as the sequel series is all set and would potentially be airing soon, the original lead has thus lost massive chunks of salary. Had they not been divorced or remained amicable after their split, it might have been possible to get a sequel with both Jolie and Pitt.

While fans have expressed their disdain, neither Glover nor the Studios appear to take any notice but remain optimistic.

The original Mr. & Mrs. Smith can be streamed on Netflix.
