Former Strictly Come Dancing star Pete Wicks has been reflecting on his time on the BBC talent show, as he appeared on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch.
Strictly Come Dancing star Pete Wicks has made a blunt confession about his time on the esteemed BBC show. The former The Only Way is Essex celeb, 37, graced the dance floor of the latest series with pro partner Jowita Przystal.
While he wowed judges and home audiences, making it to the semi-finals, Pete has candidly expressed no desire for an encore performance.
He laid bare his feelings during an appearance on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch this January 12, in the company of host Tim Lovejoy, Simon Rimmer, and fellow celebrities, reports the Mirror.
Tim jumped straight into questioning about Pete’s recent stint, asking: “Pete, how did you enjoy Strictly?” Pete promptly responded, with refreshing honesty: “I’m glad it’s over.”
Laughter ensued as Tim playfully countered: “No but you were good though. You were good.” To which Pete firmly disagreed: “No, I was useless.”

Undeterred, Tim insisted: “No you weren’t, you made it far.” Sticking to his guns, Pete retorted: “I made it far, but I was useless.”
Turning his attention to fellow guest Layton Williams, who appeared on Strictly in 2023 alongside pro dancer Nikita Kuzmin, he said: “I mean Layton obviously did Strictly and he was amazing. He was unbelievable, but I was rubbish.”
Probing further, Tim asked: “Did you enjoy the experience?” Without missing a beat, Pete confessed: “I loved it. I absolutely loved it, because I’ve never seen Strictly before and I thought I would be there for like one or two weeks.”
The conversation soon drifted to Simon’s stint on Strictly, as Tim highlighted: “When Simon did it he was exhausted.”

Simon, a participant of the 2017 edition of Strictly Come Dancing, confessed: “Yes, I was exhausted because I was still doing this show. You know what it’s like, you finish late on a Sunday night then I’d be here at 6 in the morning but it’s such a good experience.”
Layton chimed in with enthusiasm: “I loved it. I do think it’s hard when people have their other stuff going on and I felt really lucky that I could literally just concentrate on just getting the steps.”
Pete complimented Layton by saying: “You didn’t really need to concentrate because you are just gifted.”
The kind words clearly tickled Layton, who responded: “Oh stop it. You’re making me blush. You’re too hard on yourself (Pete), you did your thing.”
You can catch up on Sunday Brunch on Channel 4.
