The song tries to convey life after a break-up and how females should deal with the situation, underlining how the protagonist (most probably the singer herself) can buy flowers herself and doesn’t necessarily need someone else to make her feel loved.

Her hawk-eyed fans were quick to rock their detective glasses on social media and after peeling every part of the lyrics, many concluded that the song was about none other than Liam Hemsworth. The fact it was released on his 33rd birthday only aided the guessing game. And considering how long and patchy their relationship was, it’s only reasonable to expect a song or two from their romance.

What Chris Hemsworth Thought About His Brother’s Relationships

The relationship between Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus started in 2009, when the two met on the set of The Last Song, and saw multiple breakups, patch-ups, engagements, a marriage, and then a divorce almost a decade after their first meeting.

The on-and-off nature of their romance invited scrutiny from the media and countless theories, with the meaning of the song Flowers being the latest one in a long list.

Further, their romance apparently didn’t always make their close ones happy – that is if you feel like dissecting a seemingly subtle comment from his old brother Chris Hemsworth.

In 2014, the Thor superstar, who is six years older than Cyrus’ ex-husband, talked to GQ about his family life and commitments, indicating he’s clearly a caring husband, father, and big brother.

In the same interview, his comments about his younger brother suggested he wasn’t always pleased with his life decision, stating: 

“I’ve watched Liam do things I did at his age, like being in relationships he shouldn’t be in, or being reckless just to prove a point. And I had no empathy. My mom had to remind me I was the same way.”
We cannot confirm if the 39-year-old was taking a dig at his brother’s relationship with Cyrus, but considering a big part of little Hemsworth’s 20s was spent with the famous singer, it won’t be too far-fetched to entertain the possibility that he was talking about the decade-long romance.

A Look at Chris Hemsworth’s Personal Life

While The Hunger Games star’s relationship with Cyrus was as dramatic and trembling as a Wrecking Ball, his big brother’s romance with Elsa Pataky appears to be as calm (only if you focus on soothing music and not lyrics) as the song Malibu.

The Extraction’s lead face met with the Fast and Furious star and Spanish model in 2010 through the actor’s talent agent. Such was their compatibility that they ended up tying the knot after less than a year of dating.

Four years down the road they were parents to three kids (two twins). Balancing the family life and his ever-growing career must’ve been tricky for both, but we’ve heard very little in the media about any significant rocky patch in their relationship.

Early this month, Hemsworth celebrated Pataky’s 47th birthday and shared the moment on Instagram with a wish: “Here’s to many more.”
