Caitlin Clark followed up her historic triple-double with her sixth double-double of the season, but the Indiana Fever couldn’t complete a massive fourth-quarter comeback, falling to the Washington Mystics 89-84.
The game started with a promising 5-0 lead for the Fever, but the Mystics quickly responded with an 8-0 run and maintained the lead for the rest of the game. Washington extended their advantage in the third quarter, reaching a 21-point lead by the end of the period. Despite the daunting deficit, Indiana fought back fiercely, opening the fourth quarter with a 13-1 run. They continued to chip away at the lead, narrowing the gap to just three points in the final minute. However, Washington held on to secure the victory, avenging an earlier season loss to the Fever.
The Fever showcased one of their best shooting performances of the season, hitting 53.4% of their shots compared to Washington’s 44%. Despite this accuracy, turnovers proved costly. Indiana committed 21 turnovers, leading to 23 points for the Mystics. These errors also resulted in Washington taking 75 shots to Indiana’s 58. Eight of those turnovers occurred in the first quarter, helping Washington establish a significant early lead.

She also made history Wednesday, becoming the first WNBA and NBA player to record 29 points, 13 assists, five rebounds, five 3-pointers, 5 steals and three blocks in a game.
The No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft had a huge role in the near-fourth quarter comeback with 15 of her points coming in the last frame. She shot 7 for 14 from the field and was 5 for 9 from 3-point land.
