For the second straight offseason, the Chicago Bears have their hands on the number one overall draft pick. Also, for a second consecutive year, they had a chance to move down and gain a ton of draft capital.

Unlike last year, the team has no plans to stick beside quarterback Justin Fields, as he has already been traded to end that failed era. The Chicago Bears are getting set to take USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the first overall draft pick, but it is not coming easy for them.

A new report says one team below them in the NFL Draft was hoping to move up and snag the pick from them, but the Bears thought otherwise.

The Washington Commanders reportedly offered the 2nd overall pick along with their 2025 and 2026 first-round picks, but the Chicago Bears rejected it.

The Washington Commanders also need a franchise quarterback, so it is obvious they would try to move up to select Caleb Williams, who is viewed as the next big thing at the quarterback position.

Last year, the Chicago Bears had the number one pick, but they chose to trade it to the Carolina Panthers. The Bears acquired Carolina’s first- and second-round picks (Nos. 9 and 61) in the 2023 draft, a first-round pick in 2024, a second-round pick in 2025, and wide receiver DJ Moore, via ESPN.com.

Carolina selected Bryce Young as their franchise quarterback, but it has yet to work out for them. The team played so terribly that the Bears ended up with the number one overall pick yet again.

Caleb Williams Has The Talent To Change The Chicago Bears Franchise For Years To Come

The Chicago Bears are preparing to usher in a new era with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, who’s expected to be the No. 1 pick.

The players on the Bears will help Williams in the best way they can, but it will be up to him to thrive in the league. He has the skills to make it happen, and if he is everything that he is hyped up to be, he could forever change the franchise just as Patrick Mahomes has changed the Kansas City Chiefs.
