Former Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera may not be out of work for very long.

Rivera was fired by the Commanders following four seasons on the job. The 62-year-old went 26-40-1 over his four seasons as the team’s head coach, highlighted by an NFC East division title in 2020.

 

According to a report from David Moore of The Dallas Morning News, “Riverboat Ron” is scheduled to meet with the Dallas Cowboys next week for their defensive coordinator position. On Thursday, Washington hired Cowboys defensive coordinator to fill their head coaching vacancy.

Quinn was hired as the Cowboys’ new defensive coordinator following Mike McCarthy’s dismissal of Mike Nolan in 2020. Dallas fielded a top-10 defense in each of Quinn’s three years as DC, tallying three straight 12-win seasons in that period.

Quinn was head coach of the Atlanta Falcons from 2015 to 2020, compiling a record of 43-42-0.

Before coming to Washington in 2020, Rivera served as the Carolina Panthers’ head coach from 2011 to 2019. He led the team to three NFC South division titles, a wild card berth and a trip to Super Bowl 50, tallying a record of 76-63-1.
