The Kansas City Chiefs will be without one of their wide receivers for the rest of the regular season and their first postseason game.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, second-year wide receiver Justyn Ross will be handed a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy. Ross has been on the commissioner’s exempt list since Oct. 27 following his arrest for domestic battery and criminal damage to property.
The Chiefs signed Ross as an undrafted free agent out of Clemson following the 2022 NFL Draft. He missed his entire rookie year after undergoing season-ending foot surgery, and the Chiefs went on to win Super Bowl 57 over the Philadelphia Eagles.
In seven games for the Chiefs this season, Ross had three receptions for 34 yards and zero touchdowns. With limited playing time anyway, there’s a chance KC would have released Ross before he was placed on the exempt list.
The WR position has been a glaring issue for the Chiefs all season long. After rookie standout Rashee Rice, Justin Watson is Kansas City’s next leading wide receiver with 20 catches for 332 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
In fact, running back Isiah Pacheco is third on the team in receptions with 33, behind only tight end Travis Kelce (74) and Rice (52).
Coming off a frustrating Week 13 loss to the Green Bay Packers, the Chiefs will try to bounce back when they host the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
