The Pittsburgh Steelers have made another acquisition at wide receiver following their splash at last week’s trade deadline.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the AFC North leaders have added wideout and kick returner Jamal Agnew to their practice squad in what could be considered an exciting move as he could potentially become a contributor on the main roster.

“Source: The #Steelers are signing former All-Pro WR and returner Jamal Agnew to their practice squad, a potentially intriguing option now that he’s healthy,” Rapoport reported on Tuesday morning.

Jamal Agnew Got Off To A Great Start In The NFL

Jamal Agnew was selected by the Detroit Lions in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft and made a name for himself as a return specialist, which would see him receive first-team All-Pro honors as a rookie.

He was also a Pro Bowler in 2022.

Agnew led the league in punt return yards and touchdowns, which included a remarkable 88-yard punt return for a TD against the New York Giants.

He would eventually be used as a wide receiver.

The 29-year-old joined the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021 and was with the team until 2023.

Injuries have caused him serious career setbacks during his time as a pro, but perhaps he could make a mark in Pittsburgh now that he’s healthy.
