Per ESPN’s Nick Wagoner, head coach Kyle Shanahan said tight end George Kittle (toe) and cornerback Ambry Thomas (ankle) have injuries and are currently day-to-day.
Running back Christian McCaffrey suffered a right shoulder in the NFC Championship Game, but the 2023 rushing champion is just fine and should be at or near 100 percent for the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 30-year-old Kittle had two catches for 27 yards in the NFC Championship Game victory over the Lions, who blew a 17-point lead in the second half. With that, the 49ers are finally back in the Super Bowl again after losing two straight NFC Championship Games.
In 16 regular season games, Kittle compiled 65 receptions for 1,020 yards (tops among all tight ends) and six touchdowns. This marked Kittle’s best regular season since 2019 (the 49ers’ last NFC Championship-winning campaign), when he had 85 catches for 1,053 yards and five touchdowns.
