WNBA legend Brittney Griner and her wife, Cherelle Griner are expecting a baby. Photos of the couple celebrating the news began to circulate on Wednesday, with many members of the NBA/WNBA community expressing their excitement. At the same time, however, controversial NFL veteran Antonio Brown took to social media to question Griner’s gender.
The post by Brown was regarding two photos of Griner and her wife. In both images, Cherelle is showing off her baby bump. Brittney wore red pants and a white t-shirt in one image. In the other, the WNBA legend can be seen shirtless with her back to the camera.
The angle of the shot, with a female athlete turning their back to the camera while topless, has been used for various female athletes in the ESPN Body Issue in the past. Examples include footballer Crystal Dunn, and powerlifter Katrin Davidsdottir, however.
In a post on social media, Brown wrote:

Over the years there have been questions about Brittney Griner’s gender, partly due to a video that has gone viral several times in recent years. In it, a person who is allegedly Griner can be seen topless.
Critics have alleged that the person in the video is Brittney Griner, and the fact that she isn’t wearing a women’s swimsuit top is evidence she is a man. Griner has never confirmed or denied whether she is in the video, however, she has made it clear on a number of occasions that she is a woman.
For example, back in 2015, the WNBA star featured in the ESPN Body Issue. In her accompanying interview, she recalled how she was treated as a kid for having a deep voice, despite being a woman. In addition, she spoke about her body, making it clear that by baring all for the cameras, she isn’t hiding anything
“People are either going to accept me for who I am or they’re not. I don’t know what people think I’m hiding. I’ve heard, ‘Oh, she’s not a female, she’s a male.’ I’ve been told, ‘Oh, she’s tucking stuff.’
“They thought I was tucking. I mean, [in the Body Issue] it’s out there. Let me show that I embrace the flatness! I just want people to see somebody who embraces being naked, embraces everything about them being different.”
While the interview is now nearly a decade old, and Griner made it clear that she is a woman, questions regarding her gender have remained. With Twitter/X now using community notes to fact-check posts, it seems to be only a matter of time before AB is fact-checked on his claim against Griner.

Ninaki Priddy and Meghan were “like sisters” from the age of two, but fell out when the Suits star, 36, moved to Toronto and split with hubby Trevor Engelson, The Sun reports.
Designer Ninaki, who was maid of honour at their wedding in Jamaica, said: “What came to light after Trevor and I spoke ended my friendship with Meghan. I think everybody who knew them both was in shock”.
“All I can say now is that I think Meghan was calculated, very calculated, in the way she handled people and relationships,” she told The Sun.

She is very strategic in the way she cultivates circles of friends.
“Once she decides you’re not part of her life, she can be very cold. It’s this shutdown mechanism she has.
“There’s nothing to negotiate. She’s made her decision and that’s it.
“The way she handled it, Trevor definitely had the rug pulled out from under him. He was hurt.”
Meghan and Ninaki, both now 36, grew up together in California.
They visited Europe together at 15 and posed for a snap outside Buckingham Palace.
Ninaki, who Meg called Niki, said the future screen star always wanted to be famous, owned a book about Princess Diana and loved the Princess Diaries film.

And she recalled Meghan “literally shone with happiness” when she wed Hollywood producer Trevor, 41, in 2011.
Ninaki said: “We’d been like sisters since we were two years old, so I knew she’d always wanted to get married.
“It was such a moving wedding. I started crying the moment I saw her in her dress.
“We had the ceremony on the beach. It was so beautiful to watch, beautiful to be a part of. They each wrote their own vows. They loved each other so much.”
At the time, Meg had recently moved to Toronto to film Suits.
Ninaki said: “Meg had just finished the first series. It was a big part for her — her first full-time role. She’d hustled for years to get there, so that was huge.

“Trevor was so supportive. He travelled back and forth from LA and there was a lot of Skyping and FaceTiming going on.
“It was an exciting time. This was the man she wanted to have children with. Meg used to tell me she couldn’t imagine a life without Trevor. She said if anything were to happen to him she wouldn’t be able to go on.
“He cherished her too. You should have seen the way he used to hold her face in his hands. We all felt he was her eternal love. It was such as shock when she told me they were getting divorced.”
Ninaki says she fell out with Meghan, wed just two years, because she disapproved of the manner of the breakup.
Meghan Markle made her first royal ‘work’ appearance with fiance Prince Harry over the weekend.
She said Meghan also developed a sense of “entitlement”. She added: “After the wedding, it was like a light switched off. There’s Meghan Before Fame and Meghan After Fame.
“It’s not up to me to speak for Trevor, but I know he was travelling to Toronto every few weeks and would have walked the Earth to make their marriage work. I don’t believe she gave him enough of an opportunity. I think there was an element of ‘out of sight, out of mind’ for Meghan.”
A few months after their separation Meghan reportedly began dating dashing Toronto-based celebrity chef Cory Vitiello.
She and Ninaki stopped speaking.
Jewellery designer Ninaki toldthe Daily Mail: “The end of our friendship was like a death. I mourned it for quite a while”.
“Even now I’ll pass by a magazine stand and see a face staring out at me that was such a big part of my life. It was always Niki and Meg. We were so close-knit we came as a two.”
Meantime, new details have emerged about Markle and Prince Harry’s royal wedding next year.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte have been confirmed as pageboy and bridesmaid.
The pair, who stole the show at Pippa Middleton’s nuptials, will resume their roles as adorable members of the much-anticipated wedding party.
George, 4, and Charlotte, 2, will follow Meghan, 36, up the aisle when she weds the prince at Windsor Castle, the Sunday Times reports.
A Kensington Palace spokesman told the paper: “The wedding will be a family event. You can expect the family to be involved.”

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, she said: “It’s likely that Meghan felt a sense of competition with Kate. She seems to have a competitive streak and enjoys being in the spotlight.
“The constant media attention and comparisons being made between the two women may have added to the feelings of competition. No matter how secure and confident one may be, being compared to someone else on a regular basis can be challenging. Kate is adored by the public, which may have caused Meghan to feel like she had to live up to a certain standard.”
She suggested this sense of competition could have translated into jealousy. Louella suggested: “Seeing Harry’s close relationship with Kate could have triggered feelings of envy and insecurity for Meghan, making her feel like she had to compete for his attention and affection.”

Louella added: “Constant competition and comparison with someone, especially when they are close family, can create a toxic dynamic and make it difficult for two people to have a genuine connection. It’s possible that Meghan’s jealousy towards Kate could have contributed to any deeper issues between the two sisters-in-law.
“In the end, it’s important to remember that both women are human and may have their own insecurities and vulnerabilities, which could have affected their relationship. There are likely many nuances and complexities to Kate and Meghan’s relationship that we may never fully understand, but it wouldn’t be surprising if jealousy played a role in their dynamic.”
Her comments come after Ingrid Seward told The Telegraph: “I think that Meghan must have been incredibly envious and then jealous of Kate. I heard Meghan actually thought she was going to be a princess and live in Windsor Castle. Instead, there’s William and Kate with this beautiful house, while they are stuck in Nottingham Cottage.”
