Since the show first aired in 2010, The Great British Bake Off has become a fixture on British television.
Each season offers fresh challenges – not to mention baking innuendos referencing ‘soggy bottoms’ and ‘spotted dick’.
Every year contestants have tackled everything from simple scones to multi-tiered masterpieces.
The 15th series is currently airing for another two weeks.
Thankfully, the future of the show is certain now that Channel 4 has opened the application process for series 16.
Reality show bosses are urging passionate bakers who are aged 16 or above to apply.
The application form reads: “Have you got what it takes to bake in the iconic white tent?
“We’re looking for the next batch of bakers for the 16th series of The Great British Bake Off.
“If you or someone you know is a Star Baker in the making then scroll down to start your application. GOOD LUCK!”
The deadline for series 16 applications is 1pm on Monday, December 9, 2024, so aspiring champions have less than a month to submit their entries.
Over the years, Bake Off has helped launch the careers of many contestants.
The show brought attention to the unique skills of winners like Edd Kimber, Nadiya Hussain, Candice Brown, Rahul Mandal, and Giuseppe Dell’Anno.
Fans have been inspired by these bakers – who have gone on to publish cookbooks, host shows, and even open their own bakeries.
