Caitlin Clark had a very big WNBA draft night on April 15.

Not only was the Iowa basketball player the No. 1 overall pick — going to the Indiana Fever — but she was dressed head-to-toe in Prada.

Of course she had to be stylish for her big moment! And her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, was more than pleased with her outfit, too.

After Clark stepped out in her designer duds — a double white satin shirt and skirt with an embroidered rhinestone mesh top — a fan on X (formerly known as Twitter), asked McCaffery for his opinion on his girlfriend’s look.

He actually was too stunned to speak and responded with only emojis, including an “astonished face” and “drooling face.”

Clark, 22, responded to McCaffrey, an Iowa alum, with an emoji of her own: the watery eyes in thank-you because it’s all just so sweet!

She also shared a few photobooth snapshots of the two of them on her Instagram Stories after the draft festivities, calling him her “fav person in the world.”

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - APRIL 15: Caitlin Clark arrives prior to the 2024 WNBA Draft at Brooklyn Academy of Music on April 15, 2024 in New York City.

“This is a dream, this is something I wrote down on a piece of paper when I was in, like, second grade. Get a basketball scholarship.

Play in the WNBA. This is something I’ve always wanted to do,” Clark, who has shattered records during her tenure at Iowa, said while doing interviews with the Associated Press and Today ahead of the draft.

After her name was called (first of the night!), Clark took the stage and was given her Indiana jersey with a #1, as seen in a video shared on the WNBA’s X account.

The Fever shared a video on Instagram not long after, welcoming Clark to the team — and “Basketball Country.”

Being a senior is a hectic job in the world of college basketball. Clearly, many players come face-to-face with the dilemma of coming back for another year or turning pro.

While for most, it’s time to step into the limelight of the WNBA, others prefer to stay and lead their respective programs to new heights. Among the latter is South Carolina’s 5′ 9″ guard Te-Hina Paopao.

The 21-year-old dropped a major announcement regarding her availability for the WNBA draft. Apparently, the news caught the attention of the Las Vegas Aces star Kelsey Plum.

The two-time WNBA champion took part in spreading a major decision taken by Te-Hina Paopao recently. Seemingly, she shared a post of the’ espnw’ on her story stating that Paopao will be returning for another year of college basketball with the Gamecocks.

The post read, “Breaking: Te-Hina Paopao is returning to South Carolina for her fifth year of college, she announced on social media.”

Earlier, the dynamic No.0 of South Carolina celebrated her senior day in style. She walked down on the court proudly honoring her Polynesian culture and heritage.

Moreover, Te-Hina Paopao received a very warm hug from head coach Dawn Staley. Also, Paopao had quite a productive night as she bagged 14 points to go with 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

As it turns out, she becomes the second prominent name after UConn’s Paige Bueckers to take her name out of the upcoming draft.

There is no doubt that she will be an excellent addition to the team next year as well. Her current stats are further proof of how good she really is once she steps on the court with the ball in hand.

What do the numbers say?

One of Dawn Staley’s prized players, Te-Hina Paopao came to South Carolina after spending 3 seasons with the Ducks. Consequently, her debut season under Staley is turning out to be an effective one.

In the 28 games played so far, she has scored a total of 321 points at an average of 11.5 points per contest. Moreover, she maintains a field goal percentage of 48.3 and has the best numbers on the team when it comes to delivering free throws (84%).

In addition to this, she also holds a staggering 48.3% accuracy from the 3-point range. As a result, this makes her the best shooter from beyond the arc.

Fans will be glad to hear such delightful news coming out of South Carolina’s camps. While Paopao has shown what she can do, everyone will still be eager what else she can offer next year. It appears that Dawn Staley knows how to get the best out of her players.

It was suggested the ex-Iowa Hawkeyes’ shooter belongs in a kitchen.

Clark applauds

Caitlin Clark ensured she baked Michael Che a humble pie after the comedian directed a sexist joke at her during a Saturday Night Live show during which he said her retired jersey should be replaced by a kitchen item.

Che joined SNL as a writer in 2013 and became a cast member in 2014 and has co-hosted the “Weekend Update” segment on SNL alongside Colin Jost, on which he made the comments about the legendary NCAA basketball star.

Che’s comedy style is often characterized by his sharp wit, observational humor, and his willingness to tackle controversial or taboo topics.

“The University of Iowa,” Che said on the show. “Announced that basketball star Caitlin Clark will have her jersey retired and replaced with an apron.

“I am a fan, Caitlin, by the way.”

He frequently incorporates elements of social commentary into his routines, offering views on current events, race relations, and other cultural issues and this time he centered on sexism.

But Clark didn’t appreciate it and questioned his support for her as she hit back by saying, “Really, Michael? Because I heard that little apron joke you did,” before bringing up examples of him attacking women’s sport in the past.

The pair did remain on good terms, however. Che wished Clark good luck in the draft and in turn, Clark presented him with a signed apron and joked that he doesn’t have a girlfriend, but it was all in good taste from the pair.

Clark roasts Che

Clark might have a reputation as an incredible basketball player and she is likely to be selected as the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft bar something unpredicted and unprecedented.

But she also has a taste for comedy herself as she made sure to have Che embarrass himself in front of national television by reading out some jokes she had wrote at his expense.

“The Indiana Fever have the first pick in this Monday’s draft,” Clark wrote and Che read. “A reminder that Indiana Fever is a WNBA team and not what Michael Che gave to dozens of women at Purdue University.”

“Netflix’s top new show is Ripley, featuring an eerily, unsettling performance by actor Andrew Scott,” He then said on Clark’s behalf. “Critics say it’s the hardest thing to watch on Netflix since Michael Che’s special Shame the Devil.”

The Women’s NBA Draft 2024 will take place on Monday, April 15 with the selections beginning at 19:30 ET at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
