DOMINIC Wood, better known to a generation of kids as one half of the iconic duo behind Dick & Dom in da Bungalow, has carved out a surprising new career nearly two decades after the beloved children’s show came to an end.
Dominic originally captured the attention of audiences in the 1990s and early 2000s as a CBBC presenter in ‘the broom cupboard’.

He partnered with Richard ‘Dick’ McCourt to create one of the most chaotic and entertaining kids’ shows of their time.
Dick & Dom in da Bungalow saw kids playing games to compete for prizes ranging from coveted gadgets like game consoles to more eccentric items like bottles of water.
Losers faced being covered in slime, which was equally as disgusting for them as it was entertaining for their audience.
Between the antics, viewers were treated to animated cartoons
The BAFTA winning series ran for five seasons before wrapping up in 2006.
After the show ended, Dominic’s on-screen appearances became less frequent.
He briefly worked at BBC Radio One and reunited with Richard for Absolute Genius with Dick and Dom in 2013.
However, in recent years, he’s captured the attention of an audience in a completely different way – as a DIY enthusiast.
Dominic has gained a large following under the handle @the+houseofwood by documenting his home renovation projects.
He came up with the idea nearly four years ago when he bought a house in Surrey with his wife, Sandi
It was an old property from the 1930s and they had planned to hire professional builders to revamp the place, but soon after they moved in, the pandemic struck.
Dominic decided to take on the role of handyman instead, and has been sharing his journey online.
Since posting his first video in June 2020, Dominic has uploaded more than 220 updates showcasing his DIY skills.
One particularly popular clip from 2022 shows him fixing up a staircase – which involved removing old carpeting, sanding down the wood, and painting the steps.
He told followers: “As you know we moved in during lockdown 1 so we were lucky enough to get any carpet. A runner wasn’t a option though as everywhere was shut!
“Over 2 days I’ve worked really hard stripping back the stairs, sanding, filling, punching in nails and painting. Hard and VERY messy work!!!!”
Fans of Dom’s earlier appearances on TV have taken the opportunity to make cheeky callbacks to his bungalow days.
One person commented on one of his TikToks joking: “So much less work when you lived in a bungalow.”
Another chimed in asking: “Sorry… stairs? Thought you lived in da bungalow?”
