Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt was likely the man fans were looking to for reassurance amid fears the team might depart Missouri. But his latest comments on the possibility should leave them uneasy.

For the time being, it’s unknown where the Chiefs will be calling home in 2031, with the organization’s current deal at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium set to expire in 2030. A future agreement hasn’t been signed as yet, suggesting the possibility of a move to a new city, with several willing to welcome what has become a dynasty to various venues across the country.

Clark’s comments on the matter won’t have offered fans any respite as, according to Pete Sweeney of Arrowhead Pride, the owner spoke to reporters after Monday’s training camp and disclosed that the team was keeping an “open mind.”

Regarding the stadium conversation, Clark Hunt says any talks of moving to Kansas are “premature” with 6+ years left on the lease.

While Hunt insisted that the Arrowhead Stadium is “special” and that there’s still a lot of time left before the lease is up, the fact that he’s keeping his options open won’t provide much comfort.

Kansas City Chiefs Fans Should Know A Lot More By The End Of Next Season

Last Friday, Kansas City Chiefs President Mark Donovan told the press that the franchise aims to have a definitive grasp on the situation in six months.

That could depend on the results of August’s primary election, with Missouri’s next governor possibly deciding whether the team stays.

“What makes the most sense for our fans? What makes the most sense for our franchise and this organization? What makes the most sense and can have the biggest impact on this region? I think the positive is we do have options and we’ll consider those,” Donovan was quoted as saying.

It appears that Chiefs fans will have a solid idea of what will happen by the end of next season, if not before.
