Meghan Markle’s mouthpiece Omid Scobie has been embroiled into fiery row with royal fans over the couple’s visit to Nigeria.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have now returned to California following a three-day visit to the African country last week.
Taking to X, Mr Scobie has once again supported the couple and slammed those who condemn their recent visit, as reported by the Mirror.
After sharing a number of opinions about the couple’s visit, Scobie wrote: “So pressed over an overseas visit that didn’t cost the British taxpayer a penny lol. The state of them.”
Upon seeing his tweet, many Sussex supporters also came out in defence of the couple, with some referring to the criticism as “pathetic”.
Also tweeting, “I see the clowns are out in full force again…”, Mr Scobie then shared two tweets to his own account.
One post that he shared, from Kevin O’Sullivan, read: “Great weird pretend royal tour of dodgy Nigeria by Harry & Meghan. Where next? Somalia?”
The criticism comes after it has been reported that King Charles and Prince William were also fuming about Harry and Meghan’s trip.
Speaking to OK!, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said:”The King and Prince William are firmly of the belief that you are either in or out of the working royals.
“This seems to be a rather strange halfway house. I think both the King and the Prince, and indeed the Government, will want it to be made clear that Harry is not representing either the Royal Family or Britain on this trip.”
After beginning their travel back home to the US, where they would reunite with their two children, Meghan and Harry released a press release on their Sussex.com website.
In the post, Meghan and Harry hailed their time in Nigeria as “unforgettable” – a visit that came from the military’s invitation.
Alongside a photograph of the couple in Nigeria, their statement read: “The Duke and Duchess would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the event organisers, military officials and the whole Nigerian community for their tremendous hospitality and the first of many memorable trips.”
