Eamonn Holmes spoke on the departure of his former co-host Isabel Webster as he fronted GB News for the first time today without her.
GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes addressed his co-star Isabel Webster’s absence on Monday January 6th’s show.
Eamonn shared: “It is our first day without Isabel, and we miss her already.
“Not that we don’t welcome you here, Miss Ellie, but thank you very much for all of your comments about Isabel.
“We will make sure they are passed on. Thank you for taking the time and trouble,” he finished.
Isabel 41, was replaced on the channel’s breakfast show by 31-year-old Ellie Costello, dubbed as the organisation’s ‘own Holly Willoughby’.
Eamonn Holmes addressed Isabel’s exit live on air
Britain’s newest news channel has implemented a series of changes in a significant shake-up, highlighted by the unexpected departure of popular presenter Isabel.
This decision was accompanied by a reduction in the on-screen hours of prominent political figure Jacob Rees-Mogg and the replacement of Mark Dolan in his weekend slot, indicating a broader strategy to refresh the channel’s lineup.
According to a report from The Sun, Isabel’s departure stemmed from an ongoing and confidential feud between her and the channel’s management regarding her working hours.
Sources reveal that Isabel was unhappy with the senior executives’ expectations that she increase her on-air presence from three to five days a week.
Isabel is no longer hosting alongside Eamonn.
Insiders disclosed that this disagreement about her schedule became a critical sticking point during negotiations, ultimately contributing to an uneasy atmosphere behind the scenes.
A source shared: “Eamonn’s obviously the main star of the show and likes to be in charge – he’s now looking forward to working with Ellie, who’s a young talent he can help mould as her career progresses.”
In response to the news of Isabel’s departure from the show, Eamonn shared a short message on social media that read: “‘Bye my girl x.”
This tweet came after Isabel’s sacking and was seen by some as lacking the sentiment expected when bidding farewell to a colleague.
The relationship between the two individuals has come under scrutiny in recent days, despite reports describing them as “good friends” who “worked well together.”
In related news, Eamonn is set to continue his role at GB News, maintaining a schedule of three days a week. This arrangement is consistent with the pattern in broadcasting where typically the higher-profile personalities tend to work fewer days on screen.
Additionally, another senior figure within GB News shared insights with MailOnline, suggesting that the network’s executives found Isabel to be “too woke” and leaning left politically. This perception may have influenced decisions regarding programming and personnel at the channel./
