The internet ripped Entertainment Tonight to shreds for posting an article explaining why Travis Kelce missed Taylor Swift’s birthday party.

Since the two went public with their relationship, it’s introduced an entirely new wave of people to the game of football. Some of them had no previous knowledge, leading to funny moments like the “No Dumb Questions” segment of the New Heights podcast that Travis does with his brother Jason Kelce.

Although Kelce and Swift’s relationship has now been public for a while, it seems people are still learning about the sport. In Entertainment Tonight’s report, sources informed the publication that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end missed her party because he had to to attend practice.

“The team practices are critical, mandatory to attend, and something he takes very seriously. So, it’s no surprise he stayed in Kansas City ahead of this weekend’s game,” the report reads.

For football fans, it seemed obvious that practice is important.

“ET has learned that Travis Kelce has a job,” The Athletic writer Chris Vannini said.

He wasn’t the only one mocking the publication for reporting the obvious.
