The Kansas City Chiefs had to make a move at the wide receiver position since it looks like they will be without Rashee Rice for some time.

The Kansas City Chiefs may be without Rashee Rice for part of the 2024 season as he is still facing legal trouble due to his alleged role in a multi-car collision in Dallas that injured at least four people in April.

The Chiefs drafted WR Xavier Worthy, an incoming rookie who is still learning the offense, so the team went out and made a signing at the position.

According to Aaron Wilson with KPRC, the Chiefs signed undrafted rookie free agent Kyle Sheets. Sheets played college football for Slippery Rock. He previously signed with the New Orleans Saints this spring, but the Saints waived him in June.

Slippery Rock’s website states he is a six-foot-four, 220-pound receiver who earned consensus All-American honors last season. He finished his career with 154 receptions and 29 receiving touchdowns.

He is a big target who could be handy for the Kansas City Chiefs as they wait for Rashee Rice to serve whatever suspension is handed down to him.

Amid this signing is a slew of injuries the team is dealing with as defensive end BJ Thompson has been placed on the non-football injury (NFI) list to start training camp, and four others, defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi, defensive end Charles Omenihu, left guard Joe Thuney and cornerback Jaylen Watson – are going on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

Kansas City Chiefs Coming Off Down Year That Still Led To Super Bowl Victory

In 16 games played last year, Mahomes completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 4,183 yards with 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, which were his lowest yardage output since 2019.

Their most notable and shocking moment was a Christmas Day loss to the Raiders at home.

The Kansas City Chiefs won the AFC West with an 11-6 record, but their only home game was a Wild card playoff matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

Even still, the team would win the Super Bowl.
