During the Indiana Fever’s game against the Seattle Storm on Thursday night, it was αππουnced that Caitlin Clark had set another WNBA record that should surely make her the favorite for the Rookie of the Year award.
After 19 career games (as of Friday, June 28), Caitlin Clark became the fastest player in the history of the WNBA to record 300 points, 100 assists, and 100 rebounds. Clark accomplished the feat in 19 games, beating out Andrea Stinson and Shannonп Johnson, who both did it in 22 games, and Cynthia Cooper who did it in 23 games.

Whether or not Clark will win Rookie of the Year has been an ongoing debate in WNBA circles, as fellow rookie Angel Reese is also considered a contender. While Some sports media outlets such as CBS Sports have argued that Reese is the current frontrunner for Rookie of the Year, sportsbooks have Clark as the favorite with odds around -600.
Heading into July, Clark is averaging 16.2 points, 6.6 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game. Reese, on the other hand, is averaging 13.5 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 2 assists per game.
Neither the Indiana Fever nor the Chicago Sky, while improved by the respective arrivals of Clark and Reese, are expected to be contenders for this season’s WNBA championship.
Despite her record-setting night, Clark and the Fever fell to the Seattle Storm оп Thursday by a score of 89-77. “Nobody enjoys losing. We’ve lost 12 games and we’re not even at the halfway point of our season,” Clark said.
“We’re not gonna be walking around the court smiling. Being able to find that competitive edge while staying positive is a hard thing to do. We can definitely be better at it.” Clark and the Fever will have the opportunity to rebound from the loss to the Storm when they take on the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday, June 30.
