Lak’s life began in a way no animal should ever experience. During the COVID-19 pandemic, a cruel man bought Lak, a small, innocent puppy, with no intention of providing care or love. When Lak didn’t obey his orders—something a tiny puppy couldn’t possibly understand—the man cruelly poured boiling water over Lak’s head. The pain was unimaginable, and Lak was left barely breathing, his fur and skin burned away, and his spirit crushed. In a heartless act, his abuser then discarded him on the street, leaving the helpless puppy to suffer alone.
When we arrived at the scene, the sight of Lak was heartbreaking. Nearly all the skin on his head had been burned away, and his tiny body was limp with pain. The puppy, only a few weeks old, had never been properly trained, let alone loved. He couldn’t possibly have understood why he was being punished. It was evident that the puppy had suffered severe physical and emotional trauma, and we knew we had to act fast to save him.
We rushed Lak to safety, where he could finally be treated and cared for. For the first few days, he barely moved, exhausted from the pain and fear. He slept almost constantly, his small body needing all the rest it could get to begin the healing process. Over the next three days, we kept him in a quiet and safe environment, providing food, water, and the comfort of not being alone. Slowly, his condition began to improve, and we were able to perform a blood test and give him a general health check-up to assess the extent of the damage.
By the seventh day after being rescued, Lak was showing remarkable progress. His forehead, once horribly burned, had begun to heal, and there was a small smile on his face, a sign that he was beginning to trust again. Lak proved to be a very smart puppy, responding well to gentle training. It was a shame that his previous owner had never given him a chance to learn and grow properly, instead resorting to torture when Lak could not understand simple commands.
A month after his rescue, Lak had made a full recovery, both physically and emotionally. His skin had healed, and his fur had begun to grow back, covering the once-scarred areas. Although his body was healing, the emotional scars remained, so his rescuer continued to work with him daily, speaking to him softly and patiently. Lak had been through unimaginable trauma, and it was crucial that his mental health recovered just as much as his physical health.
Lak’s story soon went viral on the internet, touching the hearts of many. People were horrified by his suffering and moved by his strength to survive. Some offered help, while others expressed interest in adopting him. Lak’s painful past had a happy ending, thanks to the kindness of strangers and the love he received during his recovery. His story serves as a reminder of the cruelty some animals endure and the power of compassion in giving them a second chance.
