According to a royal expert, King Charles is experiencing profound emotional distress due to the actions of his son, Prince Harry, which are perceived as undermining the monarchy. Since relocating to the United States with his wife, the Duke of Sussex has continued to add fuel to the fire, exacerbating the growing rift between them. During Prince Harry’s recent visit to the United Kingdom for events commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, it was no surprise that the father and son were unable to spend quality time together due to their respective work commitments.
Reports suggesting that the Duke had requested a meeting with the king and extended an invitation for him to attend the ceremony at St Paul’s have been denied by sources close to the Palace. Despite Prince Harry’s decision to forego seeking his father’s approval, he unexpectedly reunited with the Duchess at Heathrow Airport before embarking on their unofficial royal tour in Nigeria. However, despite the king’s love for his estranged son, Sarah Lou Roberts, speaking to GB News, revealed that the trust has eroded due to the monarch’s cancer diagnosis and the ongoing disputes involving the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. She further explained that Queen Camilla has become fiercely protective of the royal family, especially the king, and cannot bear anything that might upset him. It has all become overwhelming for him.
The timing of the Invictus Games service coincided with this year’s Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, preventing King Charles from attending to show his support for Prince Harry. Robertson also recounted the emotional last meeting between the Duke of Sussex and his father, which was cut short following the king’s cancer diagnosis. She described it as a deeply emotional and upsetting experience for the king, emphasizing that Prince Harry needs to prove his trustworthiness before the king can fully trust him again, ensuring that sensitive stories won’t be leaked.
Referring to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent tour of an African country as a couple, Robertson criticized it as an unapproved pseudo-royal tour and another attempt to rebrand themselves as alternative royals. Despite the Duke’s threats to sue over his security and frequent complaints about the perceived dangers of living in the UK with the duchess and their children, the royal expert pointed out that he still has a four-person security detail assigned to him.
