Intimate scenes in films are often the bane of an actor’s existence, and why wouldn’t they be? Being covered in nothing but a thick sheen of sweat in front of cameras and innumerable other crew members epitomizes pure discomfort, after all. It’s safe to say, shooting s*xual sequences seems to be more calamitous than erotic.

Hayley Atwell’s dislike for such scenes, however, seems to arise entirely out of different reasons.

The Thing That Irks Hayley Atwell About Nude Scenes

Perhaps best known for her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Agent Carter, Hayley Atwell has gotten enmeshed in her fair share of intimate scenes on-screen. From a steamy kiss with Chris Evans’ Captain America to a full-fledged s*x scene in Black Mirror, Atwell, 41, is no stranger to going n*de in front of cameras.

Needless to say, she’s nonchalant at best when it comes to sensual scenes in films, for the most part at least. What she doesn’t condone, however, is the unnecessary use of n*dity in scenes that in reality don’t require her to shed her clothes at all.

During a Comic-Con event, when the British-American actress was asked to shed light on witnessing sexism on sets. Atwell remarked how for her, it didn’t stem from her character reciting bizarre lines from the script. Instead, it had more to do with incorporating a s*xual air into scenes that were inherently innocent and certainly didn’t need her to go n*de.
“It’s not so much things she wouldn’t say. It often involves me just going, ‘I don’t think she would be naked in this scene. There’s no need for that. I’m not doing it just to fulfill your weird little fantasy.’”
You tell ’em, girl.

Meanwhile, first reactions to her latest action outing with Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible 7 are out, and critics are simply bedazzled.

Critics Can’t Stop Gushing About Mission: Impossible 7

The seventh installment in the renowned action franchise saw Atwell and Cruise join forces, and boy did they deliver. Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One seems to have knocked the breath out of critics, rendering them speechless and wholly awe-struck.

While some lauded the impeccable action sequences that unfailingly hit the mark, others couldn’t stop singing the 61-year-old leading man’s praise to the skies. Cruise’s Co-star Atwell, too, has received endless compliments and recognition for her part in the film. “Hayley Atwell STEALS every scene she’s in,” Screenrant’s Joe Deckelmeier stated on Twitter.

The Paramount sequel to 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout will hit cinemas on July 12, 2023.
