SAM Thompson and Zara McDermott’s relationship has been put under the spotlight after the pair instigated “crisis talks” to save their romance.

The Sun was first to reveal how the reality TV duo – who started dating in 2019 – have hit the rocks following a bust-up at their London home.

Love Island alumni Zara, 27, then told how she was left “gutted” as they reunited for a sun-soaked walk in the park.

Yet it isn’t the pair’s first rocky patch – here we take a look at their chequered history.

CHEAT SCANDAL

Shortly after the pair started their romance, Zara confessed to bedding music boss Brahim Fouradi while on X Factor: Celebrity in 2019.

The drama played out on Made In Chelsea a year later – with Zara famously begging Sam to forgive her while sat on a park bench.

The pair broke up briefly, but the brunette beauty made it her mission to win Sam, 31, back.

The romantic sent her ex love letters and gifts, including a promise ring.

Sam finally gave into his feelings for Zara – but admitted he was “embarrassed” to take her back.

As time healed the infidelity, the couple’s relationship went from strength to strength – and they’ve never looked back.

Zara moved into Sam’s home, which is directly next door to his sister Louise who lives with her fiance Ryan and their son Leo.

The two couples are extremely close – seeing each other over the fence every day.

Zara then admitted feeling “down” about her time on Strictly Come Dancing being over in 2023.

Zara was the 5th celebrity to leave the show with her dance partner Graziano Di Prima.

Soon after her exit, the spotlight turned to Sam as he was revealed as a campmate on this year’s I’m A Celebrity.

He was the jungle with the likes of politician Nigel Farage, Britney Spears’ sister Jamie Lynn and JLS singer Marvin Humes.

Another niggly patch came when he appeared to kiss Jamie Lynn in camp.

Meanwhile, Zara was back at her usual job, being a documentary-maker with the BBC.

Yet a source told us it was the time apart that prompted their latest row.

They said: “Since Christmas Zara and Sam have been really busy with work and have had little quality time to see each other and as a result their relationship has suffered.

“They’ve both wanted to make the most of their careers and say yes to all the exciting opportunities offered to them.

“Last weekend it came to a head and they had a big row.

“It was very upsetting and they needed some time to let the dust settle.”

PUBLIC SPATS

Earlier this year, Sam and Zara were spotted having an explosive row following a Soccer Aid bash.

On her Instagram page, the TV star attempted to clarify the situation.

She recalled a conversation between the pair and wrote: “‘Stop saying you should have scored!!!! You did your best and that’s all that matters!! You need to stop doubting yourself!!!”‘

“It looks like we are having an argument but I’m actually telling him positive affirmations in a very passionate manner.”

Meanwhile, just last week, Sam spotted crying on pal Pete Wicks’ shoulder at the TRIC awards.

Our source has now added to us after the current drama: “Zara had a work commitment in Majorca but has now returned home to be with Sam and try to iron out their differences and have crisis talks.

“They really want to try and make the relationship work.”
