John Healey was quizzed on the UK government’s thoughts about Trump’s presidency on Good Morning Britain.

John Healey was labelled a ‘clown’ by viewers after an unfortunate appearance on Good Morning Britain today where he struggled to answer any of the host’s questions.

Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid joined forces on the ITV breakfast programme to quiz the Secretary of State for Defence on his thoughts about Trump being elected as president of the US.

The presenters started off by asking if Healey thought Trump posed a security threat to the UK.

They went on to question whether the politician thinks it would be a good idea for Nigel Farage to act as an interlocuter between the British government and the upcoming Trump administration.

Healey seemed to struggle to answer both queries, and ended up stumbling over his words while trying to get an answer out.

He made it clear that he sees Putin as the real threat to the UK military, repeatedly stating: “He is the aggressor.”

However, Healey avoided commenting on Trump’s upcoming presidency and whether or not that would affect UK-US relations.

The Secretary of State for Defence also did not give a straight answer on what the Labour government’s response is to Farage as he attempts to establish himself as a Trump ambassador.

Swerving any mention of Farage, Healey simply said: “The relationship that matters is between the elected UK government and the elected US government. It’s a special deep relationship, that will continue.”

Viewers took to social media to slam Healey’s responses, with one saying: “John Healey has not given a single straight answer to any question so far.

“Every answer he has given has simply been ‘Putin.'” The writer added in a clown emoji.

They went on to summarise his statements on GMB, writing: “‘Is Trump dangerous?’ John Healey: ‘Let me tell you who is dangerous — Putin.’ ‘Yes, of course, but what about Trump?’ John Healey: ‘Putin.'”

Another person joked: “Oh dear GMB, MOD not towing the line and giving the answers you want him to give.”

A third groaned: “This gov has no idea what it’s doing.”
