Good Morning Britain star Susanna Reid broke her silence after the festive break, posting for the first time in almost two weeks to share her transformation.

Inspired by an on-screen interview she conducted last year with Armenian-American pop star Cher, she revealed she’d taken her advice on one key hack to reverse the ageing process – embracing long hair.

Yet a surprise twist saw some fans disagreeing with her new look and telling her in no uncertain terms: “Ignore Cher!”

The debate began today when Susanna shared the results of her makeover. “NEW YEAR NEW HAIR!” she exclaimed.

“After hearing THE CHOP is cool, pop idol Cher told me women should keep their long hair and so I am turning back time and going LONG for 2025 with extensions put in by @christinabhair.”

Last year, Cher appeared on GMB with long, glossy black locks reaching almost to her waist at the age of 77.

She explained why maintaining a look most often associated with young women was key for her, waging war on the passage of time by vowing to wear jeans and long hair for “as long as possible”.

An admiring Susanna listened avidly as age-defying Cher, whose top hit is aptly named Turn Back Time, promised she’d still have her locks long at age 80.

Yet Susanna’s decision to subtly increase her length by adding a few inches of voluminous waves divided her fanbase.

One Instagrammer argued, referring to her former hairstyle: “No, you looked great with the bob. Bring it back- ignore Cher!”

“It’s nice, but as a stylist myself, I feel the chop suited you better,” chimed in another.

“You always look lovely – I really like it shorter though – tres chic!” praised another.

“Bob all the way!” wrote one fan, while another argued that her shorter hairstyle had been the one that had made her look younger.

“Preferred it shorter but you always look gorge regardless xx,” one Instagrammer added.

As fans joined the debate to vote for “short, classy and sassy” and urged her not to go “fake” with extensions, she also received support from those in the other camp, who encouraged: “Yay for long hair!”

Susanna had asked Cher, who has sold millions of albums over the years, whether she “should regret” her bob – but only time will tell which look she ends up preferring.
