Claudia Winkleman gave a little nod to the Strictly Come Dancing pros amid the show’s misconduct probe as many of the stars got down to work.
The long-running programme’s host clearly loved to see the dancing pros back in the groove as they started early ahead the new series, which isn’t expected to return until September. The summer practice is a regular thing but off-camera issues were sure to have been on people’s minds after a torrid few months which has plunged Strictly’s into crisis.
The drama shows no signs of waning, with fresh claims surfacing about the show putting many of its leading dancers’ futures – and the show itself – in jeopardy. The pros looked relaxed as they posed for a snap together as they showed a united front and Claudia gave them the thumbs up with four red heart emojis.

Allegations concerning two of the show’s professional dancers – Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima – have led to both the stars leaving the show. Anton Du Beke and another ‘unnamed’ professional dancer – reported to be female – are also currently ‘under investigation.’
In October last year, contestant Amanda Abbington left the show a month later in week six, citing ‘personal reasons’ on her Instagram for her swift exit. A flurry of allegations about the Italian’s training methods followed, something the dancer has vehemently denied. It kicked-off a number of accusations.
Graziano was among the professional dancers announced in the 2024 line-up earlier this summer. However, recent claims about his behaviour towards Zara McDermott have also led to his departure from the show. He was also dropped following claims by staff observing his behaviour and admitting to ‘kicking’ the Love Island star in rehearsals in a statement released on 18 July, a spokesperson said he knew he had ‘crossed the line.’
Judge Anton Du Beke also came under fire over the weekend, as well as former pros James Jordan and Janette Manrara. Many celebrities have stepped forward to share their experiences on the show. Will Bailey was forced to withdraw from the show in 2019 when he sustained an injury after jumping off a table during a rehearsal.
Today, BBC’s Director General Tim Davie apologised after a string of allegations plunged Strictly Come Dancing into crisis, saying: “Simply put, from my point of view, I need to be assured that we have the right safeguarding procedures and duty of care processes in place to deliver a full show. And that is the first question I ask as director general.

“I think I am assured by the robust actions actually, that we have taken in terms of the changes we’ve made, production team members in the training room, the two new roles, in terms of welfare producers, that we are in a position to deliver a very good season this year. And that’s been my focus.
“So I think it’s always been about how we make sure that we deliver a show that is fun, and entertaining, but also appropriately supports everyone involved. And with that reassurance, absolutely. I’m looking forward to the next season.”
