PHILADELPHIA 76ers superstar Joel Embiid has reportedly made the decision to play for the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The reigning 2022-23 NBA MVP, 29, chose the USA over Cameroon and France.

Embiid was born in Cameroon and holds citizenship in France and the United States.
ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported that the 76ers star told the Team USA executive director Grant Hill of his commitment on Thursday morning.
On Monday, Embiid spoke about his potential Olympic plans to the Sixers’ media.
He said that he loved “all three options” but wasn’t optimistic about Cameroon’s chances of qualifying for the Olympics.
Joel then touched on the decision to pick either the USA or France.
“The US, obviously they’ve been struggling the last couple of years trying to get back on the top,” Embiid continued.
“You also got France, that’s up and coming.
“I’m just thankful that I’m able to be in that situation.
“It is a tough choice, but probably going to make that decision in the next few days.”
If Embiid had opted to represent France, the team’s roster would’ve had the big man join a roster with 7-foot stars Rudy Gobert and 2023 No. 1 draft pick Victor Wembanyama.
According to Shelburne, Embiid chose to play for the United States due to the USA’s failure to receive a medal at the FIBI World Cup in Manila this summer.
Embiid now has the chance to play alongside former MVPs LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry — all of whom have expressed interest in representing Team USA in 2024.
The 29-year-old Embiid is a six-time All-Star and three-time All-Defensive team selection.
He’ll join a United States Olympic team who have desperately needed talent at the center position.
The US lost three of its final four games in the 2023 Fiba World Cup and allowed 117 points per game in the losses.
