An NFL analyst has sent social media into a frenzy by starting up a peculiar trade rumor centering around Buffalo Bills superstar quarterback Josh Allen.
The 28-year-old Josh Allen signed a lucrative six-year contract extension worth $258 million back in 2021. He has led Buffalo to five straight playoff appearances and four consecutive AFC East division titles, meaning the 2018 first-round pick isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
But longtime New York sports radio host Craig Carton, who now works for FOX Sports 1, couldn’t help but stir the pot by starting up his very own trade rumor on Buffalo’s star quarterback.
ESPN spoke to multiple NFL coaches, executives and scouts to get their takes on the top 10 quarterbacks for 2024. Curiously, one NFL executive said that Allen is “overrated” in a scathing review:
“One of the more overrated players in the NFL. Immense talent but he makes a lot of mistakes. He’s underdeveloped at winning at the line of scrimmage, tends to lock on to targets, more of a thrower than precision passer, forces throws into traffic.”
Speaking on the latest edition of “The Carton Show”, Craig Carton suggested that Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane was the executive who gave ESPN that critical review on Josh Allen.
Carton’s theory is that Beane gave that take in order to put the wheels in motion “for one of the all-time dumbest trades in the history of the NFL.” Carton believes the Bills will end up trading Allen.

There’s no reason to believe that the Bills are realistically considering trading their franchise player right now. The Bills waited over two decades to find their next franchise signal-caller following Jim Kelly’s retirement in 1997, and Allen is still relatively young and in the midst of his prime years.
Josh Allen & Bills Open 2024 vs. Cardinals
Allen and the Buffalo Bills will try to jump out to a hot start when they play host to Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals at Highmark Stadium. This marks the first meeting between the two teams since the “Hail Murray” game that Arizona won on a DeAndre Hopkins Hail Mary TD catch.
After that, Buffalo will travel to Miami for a Thursday night contest against the AFC East rival Dolphins.
