Kelly Osbourne has launched a scathing critique of celebrities who she believes are using the devastating California wildfires as an opportunity to bolster their social media presence. With the fires claiming 24 lives and leaving thousands homeless, many stars have stepped forward to offer help—but according to Kelly, their intentions might not be as noble as they appear.
Osbourne didn’t mention anyone by name, but her sharp commentary seemed to target high-profile figures like Jennifer Garner, Eva Longoria, and, unsurprisingly, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The latter pair, who have often been accused of courting publicity, recently appeared at an evacuation center in Pasadena, California, handing out food and posing for photos with fire victims.\
Osbourne questioned the authenticity of their actions, stating, “Is it just me being my usual cynical self, or is it really disturbing to see these celebrities using other people’s pain and suffering as a photo op to say, ‘I’m helping, I’m doing this, I’m doing that’?”
She went on to emphasize that true charity should be private and heartfelt, not something staged for Instagram. “I don’t believe you help because you want attention for helping. I believe you help because you want to,” Osbourne added.
Meghan and Harry, who reportedly arrived at the evacuation center with a camera crew in tow, were accused of orchestrating their appearance for maximum publicity. Osbourne sarcastically noted, “No one asked you to come out and give hugs. Go home.”
The comments have reignited discussions about the couple’s approach to philanthropy, which often appears highly publicized. Critics argue that their actions during the wildfires were more about securing headlines than genuinely assisting victims.
Osbourne’s disdain for Meghan Markle isn’t new, as it seems rooted in the fallout surrounding her mother, Sharon Osbourne. Sharon was fired from The Talk after defending Piers Morgan, who had been accused of racism following comments about Meghan. That controversy, coupled with Sharon’s exit from the show, remains a sore spot for Kelly, and her recent remarks reflect her frustration.
Beyond the personal grudge, Kelly’s main issue lies in what she sees as hypocrisy. Unlike celebrities who might be caught off-guard by paparazzi while donating, Meghan and Harry’s appearance seemed carefully planned. “They didn’t just happen to be in Pasadena for the fires,” Osbourne argued, adding that their visit felt like a “17-minute photo op” complete with hugs and a security caravan trailing behind.
Osbourne pointed out that if Meghan and Harry genuinely wanted to help, they could have quietly donated to reputable organizations without alerting the media. “They didn’t need a photographer in tow. They could have just written the check and let the real heroes get the attention,” she said.
Her message was clear: true acts of kindness don’t require cameras, press releases, or public displays of generosity. Osbourne believes that if Harry and Meghan were as selfless as they claim, their deeds would speak louder than their need for validation.
