The picture in question showed Kim and her eldest daughter North, 10, posing in front of the tree at the family’s annual Christmas Eve party.

Fans quickly fired up their social media and noted that the image made it look as though Kim had two thumbs on her right hand.

Commenters on one Reddit post were divided in their assessment of the snap, with some arguing that the picture was poorly altered.

Others, however, deduced that Kim was clasping both her hands together, and so the supposed extra thumb was just the one from her other hand.

Observers quickly headed to the comments section to offer their own opinions on why the picture looked as strange as it did.

‘Is this a photoshop fail?’ wondered one, while another snidely accused Kim’s team of engineering the snafu ‘on purpose to get engagement’ for the reality star.
