In a recent revelation, television personality Kim Woodburn, known for her appearance on “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” in 2009,
has accused fellow contestant Gino D’Acampo of engaging in inappropriate behavior during their time on the show.
Woodburn alleges that D’Acampo frequently touched himself over his shorts and made explicit comments about his genitalia in the presence of other campmates.
She claims he would talk to his penis, saying things like, ‘I know you haven’t had any sex, but when you get out of here, you will get so much.’
Woodburn, 82, described feeling uncomfortable due to D’Acampo’s actions, stating, “It made me uncomfortable because it was vile and crude.
It’s not appropriate to do that in front of women. But Gino thinks he can do what … .”
Additionally, Woodburn recounted an incident during a Bushtucker trial where D’Acampo allegedly cheated and subsequently used offensive language towards the production crew when confronted. She claimed that after being accused of cheating, D’Acampo began “effing and jeffing, using … ‘.” According to Woodburn, he refused to leave the set, leading to a halt in filming until crew members escorted him away.
These allegations have surfaced amid a broader investigation into D’Acampo’s conduct. An ITV News investigation has uncovered multiple claims of “sexually inappropriate … behavior by D’Acampo over a span of 14 years. One woman alleged that in 2011, D’Acampo told her he would “like … .” Another woman claimed that during a briefing for a location shoot, D’Acampo answered the door in only his boxer shorts, made a reference to his genitalia, and “flicked” it.
In response to these allegations, D’Acampo has firmly denied any wrongdoing. He stated, “I have never been made aware of … . This is simply not in my nature …
Following the emergence of these claims, ITV has taken decisive action by severing ties with D’Acampo. The network has removed episodes of “Gino’s Italy: Secrets of … ” from its schedule and has no plans to broadcast future episodes of “Family Fortunes,” which D’Acampo hosts. Additionally, ITV has decided not to continue with the travel show “Emission Impossible,” which featured D’Acampo alongside Fred Sirieix.
These developments have raised questions about the culture within television production environments and the responsibilities of networks in addressing allegations of misconduct. Woodburn criticized ITV’s handling of D’Acampo’s behavior during their time on “I’m A Celebrity,” stating, “ITV were wrong to … .”
As the situation unfolds, it underscores the importance of accountability and the need for media organizations to foster safe and respectful workplaces. The entertainment industry continues to grapple with these issues, highlighting the ongoing need for vigilance and proactive measures to prevent misconduct.
