The Prince of Wales will start back at work on September 5th, but there is one thing the royal couple is looking forward to during their last week of vacation.
Since mid-July, Kate Middleton and Prince William have been on summer break. However, William plans to return to work on September 5th. In a post to their social media accounts on Wednesday, they announced that their plans for the final week of summer include attending some events from the 2024 Paris Summer Paralympics.
Looking forward to a few more weeks of amazing sports, they said in a post marked W and C, demonstrating that they sent it by and by. Despite the fact that this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic games are across the English Channel, neither William nor Kate traveled to watch Team GB compete during the two weeks of the Olympics.
Instead, Princess Anne, a member of the International Olympic Committee since 1988 and a former Olympian, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, a supporter of British cycling who was in the stands when the women’s sprint cycling team won a gold medal, were the Royals’ representatives.
However, William and Kate, sporting a vacation beard, joined Snoop Dogg and David Beckham in a video praising Team GB’s accomplishments as the games came to an end earlier this month. The couple was captured being photographed on their way to Crafty Kirk, the parish church closest to Balmoral Castle, where King Charles III and Queen Camilla are visiting over the weekend.
William will resume his royal duties next week to attend a homeless event and a show of art at the Sai Gallery that was put together by his charity, Homewards. Prince Edward, Sophie’s husband and patron of the British Paralympic Association since 2003, will represent the Royals at the Paralympic Games.
The prince issued a statement wishing Team GB’s competitors luck on Thursday to mark the start of the competition. To all individuals from the Paralympics GB group heading for Paris—whether competitors, authorities, or staff—he said, “I hope everything works out for you at the Paralympic Games. Specific congrats to all competitors on being chosen. You now have the chance to win and compete with the best athletes in the world. More than anything else, we want you to go out there and do your best to make us proud and to motivate the next generation.”
