The Duchess of Sussex, 43, was referred to as Princess Markle by a US media outlet.
Meghan Markle was referred to as a ‘princess’ on the visit
Meghan Markle has sent fans into a frenzy during her latest public appearance this week.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, was caught on camera with husband Prince Harry, 40, helping distribute food and supplies to victims of the Californian wildfires at the World Central Kitchen in Pasadena, California, yesterday.
On January 10, the couple were seen speaking to victims and thanking first responders including Los Angeles County firefighters and police, as wildfires continue to rage through LA.
The couple wore casual outfits for the volunteer work, with the pair both wearing jeans and caps. Meghan, 43, also wore a blue shirt while Harry, 40, sported a black polo shirt.
While the couple made headlines immediately for their unexpected trip out, fans of Meghan were also quick to notice how a US broadcaster referred to the duchess with a title not used in the UK.
When filming Meghan, a FOX 11 reporter referred to the Duchess of Sussex as “Princess Markle” as she left the volunteer site.
The video has since been shared widely on X, formerly known as Twitter, sending fans of the former actress into a frenzy.
One wrote: “Hearing ‘Princess Markle’ on a professional news source outside of the United Kingdom is so good.
“Harry and Meghan put money where their mouth is and show action in times of need, despite all the negativity. Hate them or love them, you can’t say they aren’t making a difference.”
Meghan’s official title, despite not being a senior royal anymore, is the Duchess of Sussex
A second said: “YES Meghan is a Princess. Princess of hearts.”
Another commented: “We love you Princess Meghan and Prince Harry.”
While some of her fans were ecstatic that Meghan had been called this, others were not so keen on the use of the title. One person wrote on X: “No-one calls her Princess Markle in all of Great Britain.”
Another said: “Princess Markle? What’s good about that? It’s a made up title.”
As well as volunteering on Friday, the couple have also donated supplies to victims who have lost their homes. It is also believed the couple have opened their Montecito home to friends who have been forced to evacuate.
