Meghan Markle is thought to be considering a return to the UK – but only on one condition.
Meghan Markle may return to the UK on one condition Meghan Markle reportedly has one condition that she wants ticked off before she makes a return to the UK.
As reported by the Mirror, the Duchess of Sussex is keen for the couple to have a place of their own to stay before considering a return to the UK – as well as the appropriate security.
Speaking to the publication, royal expert and author Tom Quinn said: “Meghan has said she’s only prepared to return to England if she and Harry have a place of their own and the security they both feel is essential. Meghan will never return to the UK and stay with her husband‘s relatives.”
He added: “If the couple manage to find a permanent home and sort out the security issue they will certainly want to bring their children to the UK but it’s going to take a lot of diplomacy to get to the point where Archie and Lili are able to develop a genuine and warm relationship with their cousins George, Charlotte and Louis.”
Last year, it emerged that the couple had been evicted from Frogmore Cottage – which remained their base in the UK after stepping down as senior working royals in 2020.
The Windsor-based home was their permanent base after their wedding in 2018 and the first home of their son Prince Archie, now aged five.
This also comes after Harry recently won his right to appeal the Home Office’s decision that the level of protection he and his family receive in the UK is reasonable.
Prince Harry lost full-taxpayer security in 2020 when they stepped down as working royals and moved to the US.
Following their decision to step down from duties, the couple soon moved to the US with Archie, who was less than a year-old at the time. The couple then welcomed their daughter Princess Lilibet, now aged three, in the US in June 2021.
The last time that Meghan travelled to the UK was in September 2022.
