A member of the British royal family accused of racism was named in Meghan Markle’s 2021 letter to King Charles III.

Just days after it was announced that Meghan Markle would not attend King Charles’ coronation on May 6, it was reported that she had expressed her concerns about the royal family’s “unconscious bias” in a letter to the king, the Telegraph reported on April 21.

“Yes, there is correspondence between the Duchess of Sussex and the King,” a source confirmed to Page Six .

“But she has moved on, this was two years ago, it has nothing to do with her decision not to attend the coronation,” the source stressed.

However, the article is sure to cause discomfort and great embarrassment for the royal family as Charles, 74, and Queen Camilla, 75, prepare to be crowned in front of a global audience.

According to the source, the letter was sent after an interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, in which Meghan Markle, 41, alleged that a member of the royal family had speculated about the skin color of her unborn son.

The letter identifies the senior royal who allegedly made the comments. At the time of the interview, palace insiders said it was not Queen Elizabeth II or Prince Phillip.

In fact, Christopher Andersen’s book Brothers And Wives: Inside The Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan specifically named Charles as the one who questioned Archie’s skin color, but this was never proven.

The Telegraph reported that both Charles and Markle “acknowledged that the individual’s comments were not malicious”. However, the article added: “The palace is also aware of the Duchess of Sussex’s disappointment that the email invitation to the coronation made no mention of their children or their participation. The omission only added to the sense that Prince Harry’s family played second fiddle to Prince William’s.

In the Oprah interview, Markle alleged that “a number of conversations” took place between the unnamed royal family member and Prince Harry about what their unborn son would look like.

Markle said there were concerns about baby Archie’s skin colour but the former actress refused to name the people involved, saying: “I think that would be very damaging to them.”

When asked about the matter, her husband, Prince Harry, declined to elaborate but said it was a one-off conversation. “I was a bit shocked,” he admitted.

King Charles was surprised by the claims, while Harry’s brother Prince William was critical: “We are not a racist family.”

In 2021, the author of Finding Freedom accused the Duke of Sussex of calling the royal family racist on TV, saying it was “damaging”.

While promoting his memoir Spare , Prince Harry, 38, said he had never accused the royal family of racism but said they were guilty of “unconscious bias”.

In addition, the Telegraph also reported that Meghan Markle was still worried about living behind the palace walls, making her feel suicidal.

Meghan Markle’s spokesperson told Page Six : “The Duchess of Sussex is talking about her life now, not thinking about the letter from two years ago. Any suggestion otherwise is false and ridiculous. We urge the media and royal reporters to stop the ‘tiring circus’ they are creating.”
