Meghan Markle wowed the world when she walked down the aisle of St George’s Chapel to marry Prince Harry. But it was not the first time the now Duchess of Sussex had been married. In 2011, she wed her first husband, film producer Trevor Engelson, in a Jamaican wedding after seven years together.

At the time, Meghan had just made her small screen debut in hit TV legal drama Suits – a job that took her hundreds of miles away to Toronto, Canada. And after two years of long-distance marriage, she and Trevor split in 2013 and were granted a no-fault divorce on the ground of irreconcilable differences.

The split was said to have left friends and family shocked. And according to the book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess by Andrew Morton – Princess Diana’s famous biographer – Meghan ended things by posting her wedding and engagement rings back to her ex.

In the book, Mr Morton writes: “A wealthy entrepreneur friend claimed that the marriage ended so abruptly that Meghan sent Trevor her diamond wedding and engagement rings back to him by registered mail. Another confirmed that the decision to end the marriage was made by Meghan and that it had come ‘totally out of the blue’.”

Since their split, both Meghan and Trevor have ended up on very different paths. Of course, most know that Meghan married Harry, became a working royal, quit the Royal Family and headed to California where she lives with with Harry and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Meanwhile, Trevor tied the knot with nutritionist and multi-million dollar hieress Tracey Kurland. They have two daughters together.

Meanwhile, Meghan is seemingly at a crossroads in her career once again, with reports suggesting she is set to relaunch on social media to earn as much as $1million per Instagram post. The Duchess of Sussex previously shared a joint royal account with husband Harry, but it was deactivated in 2020 when they stepped back from royal duties.

Now rumours are flying that she has claimed the handle @meghan, which has already built up 76,000 followers. The handle has a picture of pink peonies, which are reported to be Meghan’s favourite flowers but the account has yet to post to the social media platform.

A source close to the former royal and mother of two confirmed that the account is held by the former royal: “Yes, that’s her. Expect an announcement very soon. She’s coming back.” A source told The Mail on Sunday: “Everyone in Hollywood is talking about the re-launch being imminent. Meghan has never made any secret of the fact she wants to return to Instagram.”

Meghan’s return to social media was reportedly previously put on hold so that she could prioritise working with Spotify. But with that deal now over,a source close to the pair told Page Six: “Meghan was set to go live on Insta, but changed her mind shortly before she launched her Archetypes podcast, so it’s just sitting there now.”
