A LOS Angeles Lakers fan has seemingly suffered a serious injury after attempting a $55,000 half-court shot on Sunday.

What looked like a dream opportunity to earn some serious cash quickly turned into a nightmare for the fan, named Anthony, during the Lakers’ 105-104 win over the Houston Rockets.

Anthony entered the half-court challenge with lots of confidence.

“That’s what I do,” he told the emcee before attempting the shot at Crypto.com Arena.

The Lakers fan took the ball in his hands and dribbled it a few times inside the 3-point line on the opposite side of the court.

He ran toward the halfcourt and fired the shot using both his hands.

As Anthony’s attempt went wide off the rim, he immediately appeared to be in pain.

He started limping before tumbling to the ground and clutching at his left calf.

Unaware of his injury, the Lakers emcee helped him up and said the fan would get another attempt at a smaller prize from the 3-point line.

But Anthony kept grabbing the back of his leg, prompting the in-arena host to thank him for his effort and asking the crowd to give him a round of applause.

NBA fans couldn’t believe the fan’s misfortune.

“I know a ruptured Achilles when I see it,” one wrote.

“I thought he was playing to the crowd at first. Smh,” another said.

“This is wild,” a third added.

“After that, he could really use the $55k to foot his medical bills,” one wrote.

LeBron James carried the Lakers to a win against the Rockets with  37 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and three steals.

The four-time NBA champion also had a technical foul called on him after he shoved Dillon Brooks on an eventful night.
