Additional details have emerged following the shocking and tragic death of Minnesota Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson.
The former Oregon cornerback, drafted in the fourth round this year, passed away in an automobile accident in Maryland on Friday night.
According to Oregonlive.com, Jackson was killed along with Anthony Lytton Jr. and Isaiah Hazel. They were all teammates together at Dr. Henry Wise Jr. High School, with Lytton going on to play at Florida State and Penn State and Hazel moving on to Maryland and Charlotte.
“We are devastated by the news of Khyree Jackson’s death following an overnight car accident,” the Vikings said in a statement after learning of their CB’s passing.
“While we work to gather more information, we have spoken to Khyree’s family and offered the support of the Minnesota Vikings. We have also communicated the news to Vikings players, coaches and staff and have offered counseling for those who need emotional support.
“Our thoughts are with Khyree’s family, friends, teammates and coaches, as well as all the victims of this tragic accident.”

The Authorities Have Revealed What They Know About the Crash Involving The Minnesota Vikings Rookie So Far
Maryland State Police report that the accident remains under investigation. They note that it occurred in Prince George’s County shortly after 3:14 AM ET.
According to preliminary investigations, an Infinity Q5 driven by Cori Clingman was northbound on Route 4 Pennsylvania Avenue. It is suspected that she attempted to change lanes “while driving at a high rate of speed” when she hit a Dodge Charger driven by Hazel, as well as a Chevrolet Impala.
Jackson was in the passenger seat, and Lytton was in the back seat.
The Charger is said to have gone off the road, striking multiple tree stumps before stopping.
Hazel and Jackson were pronounced dead on the scene, while Lytton was later pronounced dead at hospital.
Clingman and her two passengers were not injured, nor was the driver of the Impala. Police say they believe alcohol may have been a “contributing circumstance.”
Charges are pending.
